As Education for Ministry celebrates its 50th Anniversary this summer, I briefly reflected upon my first two years as Executive Director. For me it has been a challenging time of discernment, transition, and change.
The biggest challenge for me was taking all my love and passion for the program, which began shaping me when I was 21, and repositioning it for the next 50 years. All of us who love this program have been given quite a legacy to pass on.
Transitions include the program’s fifth revision, debuting March 24, the production of a short course called EfM: Reflections, and the development of other formation opportunities under the EfM brand for the building up of the church and empowering disciples of Jesus Christ.
Change has primarily been felt by EfM’s administrative staff, without whom the program would not operate. During the past two years, we have been working together to build better systems to serve all constituents of EfM. That is our primary responsibility as members of the School of Theology and the University of the South.
To that end, I am writing today as we do a major transition regarding communications and email blasts. Based upon my Council of Advice’s recommendation, we have developed a new communications strategy to keep all constituents, past and present, updated about program direction and new products offered.
As part of this update, we are cleaning out EfM’s database so that we have more accurate information about all who study, reflect, and care about the program.
LINK HERE and update your information today. We will be sending out the first communication on March 24, which will introduce the entire EfM family to the new curriculum. This information will also be available on our Facebook and Substack pages, and in our Pathwright Library, but if you prefer emails, LINK HERE to provide us with the information we need.
Thank you, and may God continue to bless you in your ministry.
Faithfully,
The Rev. Kevin M. Goodman
Executive Director, Education for Ministry
