Province 1 Announces EfM Scholarship
a model for supporting local and regional EfM participation
The Executive Committee of the Episcopal Province of New England (Province 1) is excited to announce the creation of an Education for Ministry Scholarship Fund to support Education for Ministry (EfM) in the seven dioceses of New England. The fund has been seeded thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, and the Executive Committee hopes this fund can serve as a churchwide model for supporting local and regional EfM participation.
With the mission to grow an important and impactful formation program and to expand it by supporting people who may not otherwise afford such programs to participate, this fund will be administered by a committee of diocesan EfM coordinators and a provincial executive committee member. Province 1 will hold and disburse the funds, which will be supplied entirely by donations. This partnership reflects the ways in which regional ministry can enhance diocesan and local ministry, and the Executive Committee is excited to partner with diocesan EfM coordinators to support this program.
The seed donation was generously offered in memory of EfM Mentors Leah Rugen and Susan Butler (Massachusetts) and Judith Esmay (New Hampshire), Mentor and Diocesan Coordinator Laurie Brown (Massachusetts), Mentor, Trainer, and Diocesan Coordinator Susan Hurn (Rhode Island), and in honor of Retired Mentors and Diocesan Coordinators The Revs. Lyn Brakeman and Richard Simeone (Massachusetts, now residing in Connecticut).
For more information about the EfM Scholarship Fund in Province 1, please email the Provincial Coordinator, Will Harron.
Additional donations may be made to the fund by mailing a check, along with a note designating it for the Education for Ministry Scholarship Fund, to:
